He’s the most famous footballer of our times, and now there’s a museum to honour him in his home town of Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira. The CR7 Museum is an absolute must for all fans of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Developed in partnership with the great man himself and the Pestana Group, the museum features a trophy room with all the awards he has won, plus its very own hotel. The Museu CR7 also has a number of fan letters, a Cristiano Ronaldo biography with all the footballer’s stats, and an extensive museum shop where you can buy signed jerseys, football boots and other souvenirs.

One of the highlights of the museum is the augmented reality room, where you can take a photo with the Juventus forward as if he were really standing right next to you. There are also multiple statues of Cristiano Ronaldo in and around the museum (fortunately much better than the infamously ugly bust that was unveiled in 2017 in the island’s airport, Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo).

While there are other exhibitions dedicated to CR7 in Lisbon and the Real Madrid Museum, this one is official, being inaugurated by Cristiano Ronaldo and his family in 2016. If you’re looking for some different tourist things to do in Funchal, Portugal, a visit to this museum is well worth it.

Where is the Cristiano Ronaldo museum?

The museum is located by the seafront in the Funchal harbour on Avenida Sá Carneiro, in the Praça CR7 (previously Praça do Mar).
