Lisbon has been named as the second best city in the world to raise a family, second only to Iceland's capital, Reykjavik. Wellington, in New Zealand, completes the podium. This is according to a study carried out by the British insurer CIA Landlord: let's find out more about their conclusions about the best cities to raise a family in the world.

To reach this conclusion, the British company compared several types of variables, such as quality of life, crime rate, the number of schools, the number of outdoor activities available, the cost of renting a house and the cost of services.

In the specific case of Lisbon, the consultancy company gives the Portuguese city a score of 152 in the quality of life category. The crime rate in Lisbon is one of the lowest (with a crime rate index of 28 out of 100) of the countries in the top 20. Another point to note is that in the Portuguese capital there are 722 attractions, 480 outdoor activities (the highest score among the countries analysed) and 24 highly rated local schools within the city.

The top 10 best cities in the world to raise a family ranking is completed by Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki (Finland), Ottawa (Canada), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Vienna (Austria), Tokyo (Japan) and Canberra (Australia).
