In January and February 2022, the investment amount obtained through golden visas in Madeira was around 2 million euros. In total, four Golden Visas, officially known as Residence Permits for Investment Activity (ARI), were granted in the autonomous region. We have the details about the latest figures for Golden Visas in Madeira, Portugal.

In the first month of the year, three ARI were granted in Madeira: the first was to a citizen from Canada (in an investment of 636 thousand euros), then to citizens from Russia and Iran, according to data provided by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) to Jornal Económico Madeira (the Madeira Economic Newspaper). There is also a record of an investment by an Australian in the Portuguese island region in February 2022, amounting to 590 thousand euros.

Recent data, cited by Lusa, reveal that the investment captured through golden visas in Madeira reached 60 million euros between 2017 and 2021, mainly in the real estate sector, and corresponding to 50 residence permits. The citizens who have made purchases over 500 thousand euros in the autonomous region since 2017, under the ARI Golden Visa programme, are mostly Russians and Americans, but Brazilians, Chinese, South Africans and Bolivians have also been registered.

According to SEF data released in January, investment captured through golden visas increased 52% nationally in December, compared to the same period in 2020, to 42.1 million euros.
