2018 has come to an end and it’s time to start thinking of destinations for 2019. To get the best vacation deals, the best thing to do is to prepare everything well in advance, shop around, and most of all have lots of patience.

According to Forbes magazine, there are 19 places you absolutely must visit in 2019 thanks to their special culture, their offering of a different kind of travel experience, or because they are far from being invaded by the tourist masses. Portugal has two destinations on this list with its two archipelagos: the Azores and Madeira islands.

The article in the magazine highlights the Azores as a true Portuguese treasure. With direct flights from many countries worldwide, it is now much easier to reach this dream destination in the Atlantic. The islands are described as the perfect holiday destination, combining outdoor adventure with history and culture.

According to the author of the Forbes article, "the islands have something for everyone: vineyards, volcanic crater lakes, whale watching, hot springs, diving, surfing, waterfalls…", all in all an impressive and complete tourist attraction that makes the Azores a "huge playground of natural beauties".

Meanwhile, the archipelago of Madeira is considered to be "an unexplored destination of great natural wealth".

Forbes notes that, due to its remote location, it is an exotic and isolated destination but still maintains Portugal's characteristic cultural and gastronomic customs.

Also among the 19 recommended destinations to visit in 2019 are Havana, Cuba; Cartagena, Colombia; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Merida, Mexico; and Baha Mar, Bahamas, as well as the countries of Kenya, Montenegro, Belize, Bhutan, Botswana and Iceland.
