Characteristics of a luxury home
Characteristics of a luxury home

While house hunting, you may have noticed that a distinction is sometimes drawn between run-of-the-mill properties and so-called ‘luxury’ properties, but what’s the difference? What makes a luxury property so luxurious?

Location: Most luxury properties are grouped together in the same neighbourhood, albeit with a good distance between each one so as not to disturb the privacy of the neighbours. They are often located in gated communities with 24-hour security, in quiet city suburbs, but still near to services such as hospitals, shopping centres and prestigious international schools.

Size: As you can probably imagine, many luxury properties are larger than normal buildings, big enough for each member of a family to have their own space. The communal areas, too, are more spacious, with grand kitchens, living rooms and games rooms.

Exclusive features: These properties may also come with some added extras not found in most traditional houses, such as saunas, spas and swimming pools, cinemas, cellars or guesthouses.

Quality over quantity

Quality: Luxury properties are made with high-quality, building materials that will stand the test of time and they are given an elegant finish. This is what gives them their increased value and desirability. As a matter of fact, the most important aspect in making a luxury property what it is, is probably the particular aesthetic it has, and this inimitable feature is the deciding factor for many people when buying one.

Now you’ve got all the facts about the differences between traditional houses and luxury properties, all you need to do now is decide which one you’d prefer to live in.
