San Francisco, USA, is the city with the best living conditions based on various factors, from sustainability, development and tolerance by the population, to the culture and leisure activities it offers. Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Manchester (United Kingdom) complete the podium of the quality of life index produced by Time Out magazine, where Porto (9th place) and Lisbon (21st place) also appear as desirable cities to live in.
Time Out's annual index combines the experiences of more than 25,000 people from all over the world with the opinion of the magazine's network of editors and local experts. After the Top 3 cities already mentioned, there are three European cities: Copenhagen (Denmark); Prague (Czech Republic) and Madrid (Spain), two North American cities: Montreal (Canada) and New York (USA), Tel Aviv (Israel) and Tokyo (Japan).
One of the most valued experiences this year was how the cities adapted to Covid restrictions in order to keep culture and leisure activities open. In the top-ranked cities, community spirit, facilities for alternative transport like bicycles, and the possibility of making new friends were all rated as important.
