A new five-star resort with 158 units is planned for Meia Praia in Lagos (Algarve), right by the beach. The construction contract has been awarded to MAP Engenharia e Construção, part of the MAP Group, while the project is being promoted by Sonae Sierra in partnership with PGIM Real Estate (owned by US insurer Prudential) and IHSP - Iberian Hospitality Solutions. This ambitious development represents an investment of €60 million.

“This project, led by Reify, will cover a gross construction area of around 20,000 square metres, alongside 22,500 square metres of landscaped outdoor space, on an urban plot boasting stunning views of the sea and Palmares golf course,” said MAP Engenharia e Construção in a statement, describing it as a “major undertaking.”

The company adds that the resort “is set to become a landmark of hospitality and modern architecture,” aiming to “boost the appeal of the region” and “enhance the Algarve’s reputation on the international stage.”

For MAP Engenharia e Construção, this contract is more than just another development. “This is a demanding project built to international standards of excellence, and it’s exactly the kind of challenge that inspires us. We believe that combining technical expertise, rigorous management, and close client collaboration will continue to be key to our success. The Algarve deserves a project of this calibre, and we’re committed to delivering it with the utmost dedication,” said José Rui Meneses e Castro, Co-CEO of MAP Group.
