Compensating the rise in prices of the real estate market is one of the priorities of the Regional Government of Madeira. President Miguel Albuquerque says he wants to "counterbalance" the rise in values and ensure that households and families, "especially young couples, have the opportunity to acquire a home in spite of an increase in the cost of living in Madeira.

The President was speaking during the presentation of a project for the construction of 30 homes at controlled costs in Porto Santo on the island of Madeira, a project that will see an investment of around 6.3 million euros. This is one of the developments approved in the first phase of applications launched by the IHM (Madeira's Housing Investment Board), under its Recovery and Resilience Plan.

"We will put properties on the market for rent with supported income for young couples. This is a way for the Government to encourage and facilitate the acquisition and residence of young families," stated Albuquerque quoted by the Madeira daily newspaper, Diário de Notícias da Madeira.

The president of the Regional Government of Madeira considers that it is the "obligation" of the executive to take advantage of 128 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan to offset the rise in prices in real estate.
