You don't have to spend a fortune to have a fancy house. It all comes down to the details, materials, patterns and textures, according to the experts. Following some professional tricks, and with good taste, it is possible to have the house of your dreams, but in this case, with your eyes wide open. In today's gallery we show you that it is possible to have elegant and welcoming spaces, even with a tighter budget.
The interior designers Eva Maraver and Laura Granado spoke to AD España magazine, with some very useful tips capable of "working miracles" in any kind of house. Let's have a look at some decoration tips from the experts.
Space organisation
Interior design specialists consider that luxury is really the space, and that everything revolves around its distribution. As a rule, whenever there are several very small rooms, specialists recommend (if possible) eliminating one and transforming it into a larger room. Another option that allows you to "gain volume" is to make the most out of high ceilings.
The walls
To create a special environment, the experts recommend choosing a palette of light and medium tones, letting your subsequently "play" with textures and other elements that provide sophistication. If there are no funds for this, they advise the use of sophisticated wallpaper or screen prints.
Paintings, canvases and illustrations from the supermarket should also generally be avoided, since this could make the decoration artificial and "tasteless" according to the experts. A good solution, they say, is to create a gallery wall, a feature with photos and illustrations of each person's favorite themes and frame them.
Another idea that the designers have highlighted is to use illustrators who have pieces at affordable prices.
Light and shadows
"The creation of highly contrasting shadows and light effects results in very sophisticated lighting," says Maraver. To enhance this effect, experts recommend looking for a ceiling lamp or opt for a simple, inexpensive lamp base, but with a custom lampshade.
 A touch of wood
As for the furniture, the ideal, according to the decorators, is to choose pieces with natural finishes and mix them with lacquered auxiliary furniture. In this case, it should be ensured that they are of high quality and that the colours are elegant.
Second-hand furniture and upcycling can also be an option. For example, we can use an old wooden base and put a marble or stone top on it, or recover a glass top and put a brass or bronze foot on the base.
Say yes to antiques
"When a budget is so low that changing all the furniture isn't an option, you can find small pieces or even antiques to achieve the effect you're looking for," says Maraver. In such cases, she advises choosing ceramic pieces or investing in the work of emerging artists.
 Make use of shelves
"Line all the walls of a dining room with shelves that go from the floor to the ceiling: buying them in Ikea is of course an option", say the decorators. The professional touch can be achieved by simply varnishing them "with a sophisticated colour".
Fabric is your best friend
Bet on natural linens or silk, with bronze or metal elements.
