Are you thinking of putting on a backpack and heading out to discover a European city? We'll give you a hand: these are the ten cheapest European cities to spend a weekend in. It is worth noting the fact that Lisbon is in ninth place in this ranking, led by Krakow (Poland).

This comes from a study by Britain's Post Office Travel Money, which has used the costs of accommodation, public transport, museum entrance fees, meals, coffee and soft drinks to put together this list.

The big conclusion is that the cheapest European cities for a weekend break, spending less than 200 euro, are Krakow (Poland/188 euro), Vilnius (Lithuania/189 euro) and Riga (Latvia/197 euro).
