If you’re already thinking about your next holiday getaway destination, here’s a few ideas – the cheapest coastal towns in Europe. According to the Post Office financial service’s holiday cost barometer, Sunny Beach in Bulgaria is the cheapest, not including the cost of plane tickets and accommodation. In third place in the ranking comes a Portuguese beach – the Algarve, at a mere 78 euro on average, or 68.40 pounds.
The ranking is based on nine small but common expenses that people often have at the beach: from a coffee, to a bottle of beer or Coca-Cola, a glass of wine, a bottle of water, sun cream, insect spray, a two-course lunch and a three-course dinner for two. The calculation doesn’t take into account the price of travel and accommodation.
