Cristiano Ronaldo's real estate empire is about to get bigger. The Portuguese Manchester United footballer has invested in yet another property in Portugal, this time in Cascais, in the luxurious Quinta da Marinha. The current scenario of high inflation and rising construction costs, mainly focused on materials, has contributed, however, to the fact that the planned investment in the construction of the property has almost doubled, to about 17 million pounds (19.7 million euros). But that's not all. We explain everything.

The initial £10m (€11.6m) investment in building the property in Cascais has skyrocketed due to the rising construction costs haunting the industry, but also Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to achieve perfection has reportedly led to changes in the design, as reported by the British tabloid, The Sun.

"Ronaldo has always strived for perfection throughout his career and he wants the same off the pitch. He wants the best for himself and his family. When he retires he will live there and wants to be 100% happy with that decision," said a source quoted by The Sun.

Another source, also unidentified by the British publication, revealed that the initial budget for the construction of the mansion in Quinta da Marinha was around 10 million pounds, having since skyrocketed to the aforementioned 17 million pounds.

"There have been some changes to the original design. But much of the price increase is related to the rising cost of building materials," said the individual, stressing that, as the work has been underway for a couple of years already, the forecasts are for work on the property to be finished by the end of 2022.
