The North American luxury hotel chain Nobu Hotels, owned by actor Robert de Niro, film producer Meir Teper and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa has announced the opening of its first hotel in Portugal, which will be located in Lisbon, on Avenida da Liberdade.
This operation is further proof that Portugal continues to be an attractive investment destination, and tourist assets stand out as a segment that moves millions. According to Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), by the end of the year, investment in hotels is expected to reach 720 million euros.
"The first Nobu Hotel and Restaurant in Portugal will be located in the heart of Lisbon, on the famous Avenida da Liberdade," the company's 'website' reads. "This prestigious address, known for its luxury boutiques and distinctive 19th century architecture, offers discerning travellers direct access to the city's luxury retail, five-star restaurants and important cultural landmarks," the Nobu Hotels group highlights.
In a short note, without indicating the investment amount or opening date, the group highlights that "the Baixa area, the trendy Chiado neighbourhood and the famous São Jorge Castle are only a short walk away, making this location the perfect base for exploring all that the city has to offer".
The luxury hotel group's arrival in Lisbon is announced after the opening of the Nobu Sevilla Hotel in the heart of the Spanish city was announced in the spring of this year. In this case it is a project that results from a partnership between the company and Milenium Hospitality Real Estate, a real estate investment trust specialised in the luxury hotel sector in Spain and Portugal.
This new hotel in Seville will be the third that both companies open in the country, after the ones in Madrid and San Sebastián. Nobu Hotels already has six establishments in the neighbouring territory (also in Barcelona, Marbella and Ibiza).
