A new residential development is being built in Lisbon, a stone's throw from Avenida da Liberdade, with completion scheduled for August. It's called Telhal 72 Liberdade and it's an urban regeneration project comprising 16 flats spread over six floors.

Located on the street that gives it its name, Rua do Telhal, this development stands out for its modern and sophisticated architecture, where spacious and bright spaces predominate. The flats range from studio flats to 3+1 bedroom duplexes, with areas between 47 and 309 square metres (m2), and all have fully equipped kitchens with top-of-the-range appliances.

Equipped with a construction concept that opted for technology, Telhal 72 Liberdade is an intelligent building. All the homes have home automation systems, allowing remote management of air conditioning equipment and blinds from a mobile phone or tablet, at any time of day and from anywhere. Sustainability is also a distinguishing factor, as all the car parks are fully equipped for electric vehicles.

Pedro Vicente, CEO of Overseas, the development's promoter, said in a statement that "innovation, rigour and environmentally responsible performance" are the company's focuses, and these are also visible in Telhal 72 Liberdade, which is "the first residential project in Portugal with a shared electric vehicle to be used by the owners".

Although this is a contemporary development, the refurbishment project has preserved the authenticity of the building's façade.

As Catarina Henriques and Pedro Maldonado, heads of the development department at Century 21 Realty Art MJ, which is marketing Telhal 72 Liberdade, say, this is "more than a building": "It's an expression of contemporary sophistication, combined with the authenticity of Lisbon's traditional design.
