After travelling the world, Joseph Robinson, a musician, actor, and entrepreneur, found the perfect place to live and invest in Portugal. He settled in Melides, in the Alentejo, in a country house with a pool for the past five years. The house has been refurbished to reflect his personal and professional journey. He is now selling it for €1.75 million to invest in Beato.
Robinson made his career as a musician and actor, performing live concerts and gaining various experiences in bar management and event organisation in London. He spent time in Los Angeles, where he conceived the idea of creating a hotel project. This led him to enrol in one of the most prestigious hospitality schools, the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne. After this intensive training period, he worked in several luxury hotels in the Caribbean, as explained in a press release.
With entrepreneurship always running through his veins, he decided to convert his family home in Herefordshire into an event venue.
Connected to spirituality, he also travelled to India, where he completed 500 hours of advanced yoga training. With renewed energy, he embarked on another project—a tour in a converted van, travelling from Canada to Mexico, offering yoga classes along the way, all while searching for the perfect location to launch his own yoga-focused hotel project.
He eventually returned to Europe. “He spontaneously decided to join some friends on a visit to Portugal, and shortly afterwards returned in an ambulance he had transformed, eventually discovering Comporta, where it broke down, and he ended up staying for 3 months. During this period of exploration, he discovered Melides, fell in love with the place, and eventually moved there, living in his van for 12 months,” the document continues.
It was during this time that he purchased the country house, which is now listed on idealista by Petro Domus.
After five years in Melides—where French fashion designer Louboutin has several projects—Joseph has decided to seek new investment and development opportunities related to art, culture, and creativity, now preparing to invest in Beato.
“Adjacent to the phenomenal contemporary art fair—ArcoLisboa, and in partnership with one of the major figures in the current UK art scene, he plans to convert an industrial plot into a space for luxury artist residences/workshops with a swimming pool and restaurant, a dynamic concept featuring events, DJs, and more,” the document adds.
