The dream of owning a private island could become a reality without even leaving Portugal. Ilha dos Puxadoiros, in the Ria de Aveiro, is currently up for auction until 7 August this year, with a guide price of €750,000. Bids can be placed through Leilosoc.com.

This property, which is being sold as part of a disinvestment process, provides an exclusive, peaceful and private setting linked to the region’s salt-making and aquaculture traditions, incorporating several salt pans and rural properties.

The sale includes areas for semi-intensive fish farming, aquaculture operations and work to make use of the Ria de Aveiro’s natural resources, as well as supporting buildings: Casa da Ilha, two palheiros — traditional wooden sheds — and Casa da Pinta, all intended to support fish-farming activities.

Ilha dos Puxadoiros also includes various operational facilities and infrastructure, along with aquaculture operating licences associated with the Pinta 1229 and Canal do Peixe 1939 sites.
