It's time to add some new destinations to your Portugal bucket list, two of Europe's 22 best hidden gems are in Portugal. One in the Algarve, Ilha do Farol, and another in the Setúbal region, the town of Sesimbra. This is according to a ranking drawn up by European Best Destinations (EBD), a platform dedicated to promoting tourist spots in Europe. The 2022 raning is led by the coastal town of Batumi, in Georgia.
"Europe's Best Hidden Gems 2022" contemplates 22 European hidden treasures in countries such as Georgia, Croatia, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and, of course, Portugal.
Portugal's Ilha do Farol, which literally means "Lighthouse Island", can only be reached by boat (from Faro or Olhão) and is in 19th position in the table. This hidden gem in Portugal is considered by EBD as a destination that is still little known, but sublime and a must on any Portugal bucket list. The publication highlights the "relaxing atmosphere" of Ilha do Farol and the "spectacular sunsets".

As for Sesimbra, which occupies 21st place in the ranking, it is a destination that stands out for offering "unique living and gastronomic experiences", for example, and is also ideal for experiencing "reconnection with nature".
