Foodtopia is coming to Lisbon. On 2nd and 3rd July 2022 the Tropical Botanical Garden, in Belém (Lisbon), will host the city's first international street food festival, with the best of the gastronomy from both Portugal and abroad. The Brazilian chef Alex Atala, from DOM, in São Paulo, Brazil, with 2 Michelin stars, is the ambassador of the initiative. We have all the details.
Henrique Sá Pessoa, chef in Alma, Lisbon, with 2 Michelin stars; Rui Paula, from Casa de Chá Boa Nova, in Leça da Palmeira, also with 2 Michelin stars; Michele Marques, chef in Mercearia Gadanha, in Estremoz; Marlene Vieira, from the recently opened Marlene; or António Galapito, from Prado, both in Lisbon, are some of the names already confirmed among more than 50 national and international chefs that "will transform their identity into delicious and unexpected street food dishes", according to the Amuse Bouche agency which is organising the first edition of the Foodtopia event in Lisbon.
More than just a street food festival, Foodtopia is "a privileged moment for sharing stories about food, highlighting the importance of migratory flows for the gastronomic wealth we share today in a globalised world".
Therefore, in addition to chefs representing the cuisine of the various Portuguese regions, from the coast to the inland regions, another highlight of the menu is the strong presence of chefs from some of the most representative communities in the country. These include Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, São Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde, Brazil, East Timor, Goa or Macao.
Entrance to the Foodtopia festival costs 10 euros, but is free for children under 12 years old. Each dish will have a single cost of 6 euros and it is possible to book tickets through the website or by sending an e-mail to info@foodtopiafeast.com.
