The lineups for 2025 are very exciting, featuring lots of famous musicians as well as fresh, emerging talent. As summer approaches, keep an eye on tickets, as festivals often sell out. However, you can sometimes find resold tickets for those must-see festivals that have already sold out. Festival dates typically span July and August, though some take place in other months.
NOS Alive

Taking place on July 10-12, 2025 in Lisbon, NOS Alive features a diverse lineup of rock, indie, and alternative artists. Since its inception in 2007, it has attracted international headliners and music lovers with its dynamic performances. This year will welcome artists Glass Animals, Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, Kings of Leon and more.
Cool Jazz
In 2025, the festival will expand to seven nights throughout July, featuring three performances each evening in Cascais. Shows will take place at Marechal Park, Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, and the gardens of Casa das Histórias Paula Rego. Featured artists are Benjamin Clementine, Seal Smith and Ezra Collective.
Boom Festival
Boom is held biennially in Idanha-a-Nova from July 20-27, 2025, Boom Festival celebrates psytrance and world music. Since 1997, it has emphasised sustainability and diversity, attracting a global audience.
MEO Kalorama

Taking place in Libon, in Bela Vista Park between 19 - 20 June. The festival is centred around music, art, and sustainability. Acts this year include FKA Twigs, Pet Shop Boys and Jorja Smith.
Festa do Avante!
Taking place on September 5-7, 2025 in Seixal, this diverse festival includes folk, rock, and international music. Organised by the Portuguese Communist Party since 1976, it combines music with political and cultural discourse.
Primavera Sound Porto

Probably the biggest music festival in Portugal, it is held on June 12-15, 2025 in Porto. This festival is a must-attend for indie, rock, and electronic music fans. Since 2012, it has expanded from its Barcelona origins to become a key event in Portugal, and this year features Charli XCX, Central Cee and Caribou.
Vilar de Mouros
Scheduled for August 21-23, 2025 in Vilar de Mouros, this festival is known as the "Portuguese Woodstock." and it is the oldest rock festival in Portugal. It hosts rock, alternative, and indie acts, celebrating global music influence.
Vodafone Paredes de Coura Festival
Held at Taboão River Beach in northern Portugal, from 13-16 August, 2025. This festival offers a mix of music and nature, with performances in a natural amphitheatre. Enjoy performances from headliners like Franz Ferdinand, Vampire Weekend, Lola Young, and Portugal The Man.
Afro Nation

Said to be the biggest afrobeats festival in the world, this festival takes place from 9-11 July, 2025. It is held by the coast in southern Portugal, in Portimão. Acts this year include Mary J Blige, Tems and Burna Boy.
Festival Músicas do Mundo (FMM)
This world music festival turns the coastal town of Sines into a global cultural centre. Dates for 2025 are 18-26 July. Performers come from six continents to celebrate musical traditions from Africa, Asia, South America, and beyond.
