Sustainability and efficiency are the two words gaining weight in the property and construction industry. And under that premise Keep was born. Founded by David Taranilla, the company offers 100% customisable industrialised housing from €149,000. The group, based in Barcelona, wants to minimise the time and footprint left by properties on the environment, so its projects are delivered in between six and nine months and can become self-sufficient homes if the client wants.
Taranilla has been building for 20 years (residential buildings, family houses, rehabilitation) and at university, his final project was on industrialised construction. He was always keen to follow this path, especially for the reduction of deadlines and costs. In addition to sensitivity to climate change, it should be remembered that 40% of CO2 emissions come from the construction sector.

Keep has a configurator to help you personalise your home. On the website, Keep has four types of accommodation that can be configured. This product starts at €149,000 for the most basic house, which has 70 m2 and one or two bedrooms, up to around €500,000 for the Extended range, which is five bedrooms and 280 m2.

"You can configure how sophisticated you want the sustainability of the house to be, what renewable energy you want to use... Transforming the house into a healthy home, as well as the finishes of the floor, walls, pool... and the delivery time which is 6 to 9 months," says Taranilla. The price of Keep houses includes everything except the land.
Keep stands out for using efficient building systems and renewable materials. In an effort to make a difference in the industry and promote a more sustainable lifestyle, Keep doesn't just build houses, it educates and raises awareness in the community about the benefits of this type of architecture, and collaborates with local organisations and experts in the field to promote the adoption of stricter standards in terms of sustainability.
What is the construction method
"The materials are kilometre 0, and this helps us to greatly facilitate the reduction of deadlines, since we do not depend on third parties", explains the manager, who comes from a family with a tradition in civil construction, specifically in reinforced concrete. Taranillo is now mainly committed to CLT (cross-laminated timber), which he believes is already the material of the future. "It's even being used in skyscrapers," he adds.
