Socialist António José Seguro has been elected President of Portugal after winning the second round of the 2026 presidential election with a record 66.8% of the vote.
On the night of 8 February 2026, António José Seguro won the second round of Portugal’s presidential elections with around 67.12% of the vote, defeating his opponent André Ventura, who received approximately 32.88%.It was one of the largest victory margins ever seen in a race for the Belém Palace.
The 16 ministers forming the 25th Constitutional Government led by Luís Montenegro were sworn in on Thursday, 5 June, during a ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Palácio da Ajuda in Lisbon.
