Living in a luxury home is synonymous with comfort and exclusivity. When it comes to luxury real estate in Portugal, many high-end properties offer stunning views, gardens, pools, and generous spaces for the whole family, as well as providing thermal and energy efficiency. While every district and island in Portugal has at least one luxury home for sale, finding a property or apartment costing more than 1 million euros is easiest in Lisbon and Faro (the Algarve). This is because these two districts alone account for over 50% of the available listings in November, according to data from idealista/data.
Where to find luxury homes in Portugal up to 3 million euros
The more than 15,000 luxury homes for sale between 1 and 3 million euros are spread across all Portuguese districts and islands. However, some regions stand out. Lisbon is the district with the highest number of exclusive homes on the market, representing 38.6% of the national total. Following closely is Faro, which accounts for 26.5% of the listings registered in November. In total, just the Portuguese capital and the Algarve region account for 65% of the available luxury homes in the country.
The third district with the most luxury homes for sale is Porto (12.7%), followed by Setúbal (6.7%), Madeira (5.5%), and Braga (2%), according to data from idealista/data. All other 19 regions have a share of exclusive homes below 2% of the national total.
Five Portuguese islands have less stock of luxury homes for sale, with fewer than 10 properties on the market. These include the island of Porto Santo, in Madeira, and the islands of São Jorge, Santa Maria, Terceira, and Pico, in the Azores archipelago.
On the mainland, there are also districts with fewer than 20 luxury homes for sale, representing a minimal share of the national supply – such as Bragança and Guarda.

Where are luxury homes priced above 3 million euros located?
Within the luxury residential market itself, there are even more exclusive homes costing over 3 million euros. In this case, around 2,400 properties were listed on idealista in November.
These luxury homes priced above 3 million euros are mainly located in Lisbon (44.4% of the total) and Faro (31.5%), as was the case with the lower price range. This means that nearly 8 out of 10 properties priced above 3 million euros are located in Lisbon or the capital of the Algarve.
The list of districts and islands with the highest supply of luxury homes priced above 3 million euros includes Setúbal (8.5%), Porto (4.4%), and Madeira (2.6%).
The data from idealista/data also reveals that there are fewer than 10 luxury homes priced above 3 million euros in 6 markets: São Miguel Island, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Viseu, Santarém, and Coimbra.
