Buying a property in Portugal costs, on average, 1,031 euros/m2, according to data from the Portuguese National Institute of Statistics (INE). Even so, there are towns where prices exceed 2,000 euros/m2 (Cascais, Oeiras and Loulé). In Lisbon, the houses cost even more, with prices reaching around 3,154 euros/m2. This means that a house of 100m2 will cost about 315,400 euros. Then, and at the opposite end of the table, there are municipalities where prices don't reach 500 euros/m2, or even 200 euros/m2. This is the case of Sernancelhe, in the district of Viseu, where properties cost 167 euros/m2.

It's in this small town that we find the cheapest properties in Portugal. Here, the same 100m2 house could cost even less than 17,000 euros and in the end, buying a house in this area would be 19 times cheaper than in the capital. In Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in Bragança, the price pero m2 equally does not reach 200 euros, remaining at 199 euros. Above the level of 200 euros per m2, but at a cost of less than 300, we find 28 municipalities, including Pinhel, in Guarda (214 euros per m2), Monforte, in Portalegre (225 euros per m2) or Vila Velha de Ródão, in Castelo Branco (227 euros per m2).
