Europe Day 2026 takes place on 9th May. The focus for this year's celebrations in Porto is on the values of peace, unity and cooperation, and on the city’s place in the European Union.
Highlight events for Europe Day 2026 in Porto include:
- a Europe-themed run of around five kilometres
- a formal raising of the European Union flag at Porto City Hall
- a food fair in General Humberto Delgado Square, showcasing regional food and dishes inspired by different parts of Europe
- an open-air concert on Avenida dos Aliados with performances by singer Katia Guerreiro and the Portuguese Symphonic Band.
Extended programme around 9th May
Europe Day in Porto extends beyond a single date. Recent programmes, which are likely to be mirrored in 2026, have included:
- A month-long photographic exhibition in the pedestrian underpass at Campanhã Intermodal Terminal, from 1st to 31st May
- Night-time projection of the European Union flag on the façade of Porto City Hall on the evenings of 8th and 9th May
